North Branford – On Saturday, May 27, at approximately 11:24 a.m. a man attempted to hold up the Citizen's Bank located at 1717 Foxon Road and ended up leaving without a penny. According to Detective Sergeant Kenneth McNamara of the North Branford Police Department, the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and handed a note to the teller that read, "Give me $2000 or I'll start shooting." The teller opened the cash drawer and told the would-be bank robber that there was no money. The man then turned and left without incident, according to McNamara. "This was our first bank robbery ever in the history of North Branford," said McNamara. Despite the man's threat the teller never saw a gun. The suspect is described as a white male with a mustache, standing about 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was wearing a black shirt, black baseball cap, and denim jeans at the time of the hold-up. The case is still under investigation. Police ask that anyone with information about the incident to call the North Branford Police Department at 484-2703. |
