A Mike Timm Film PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE an emotional killing spree In 1996 Escape Films produced its first short film People Kill People, written and directed by Mike Timm. Mike has been an associate of the Sundance Institute and a staff member of the Sundance Film Festival. He won an ADDY Awards citation of excellence for television commercial writing in 1996. People Kill People, shot in 35 mm color, runs 20 minutes and tells the story of a murder mystery no one cares to solve. Nine struggling artists live on the same floor of a Utah apartment building. And a neighboring drug dealer gets murdered. As audience members we become voyeurs of the intimate affairs among these nine passionate people who live their lives in the midst of an "emotional killing spree." The complex and eclectic lives of these artists paint the murder investigation an imposing challenge for the man given the task to discover the identity of the murderer. The inspector gets more than he bargains for as he uncovers the personal lives of each of the suspects. But we are safe in the movie theater. Or are we? The People Kill People short made its festival debut at the Long Island Film Festival on July 22nd 1997 at Stony Brook College, New York. The film received strong audience approval and everyone expressed interest in seeing a feature length version. In August 1998, the feature length screenplay of the People Kill People (retitled Martini) was read at the Producer's Club Theatre in New York City. Back to Escape Films |
